A Time to Laugh

One day, when I was digging carrots in the garden, Jessica, then 6, asked if she could have one. I gave her one, and she went away eating it. Later, when we were weeding together, I asked her how she liked it.

“Well,” she said, thoughtfully, “I liked the orange part.”

She had eaten the whole thing!
