Encouragement

Temptations come to everyone,

for “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”* (1 Corinthians 10:13)

Even our Savior was tempted, but won:

“For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.”* (Hebrews 4:15)

Must we yield? No never, for see,

“The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished.”* (2 Peter 2:9)

Preparation is a vital key,

so “Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”* (Matthew 26:41)

’Tis humanity that is its source:

“But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.”* (James 1:14)

And riches can increase its force:

“But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.”* (1 Timothy 6:9)

Then root down and fast hold,

for “They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.”* (Luke 8:13)

In the battles fray we’re told,

“My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations.”* (James 1:2)

Overcome and stand in His might,

for we “Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations.”* (1 Peter 1:5-6)

Never give up but continue to fight,

for “Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.”* (James 1:12)
