It is surpassing strange that one reformation does not profit by the downfall of the preceding ones.... The worldliness they could not once tolerate they are now themselves engaging in. Then the spiritual ones form another movement....

But now these very same writers and preachers... have repudiated their own teaching and are wearing many of the things they formerly taught against. So, according to their own statements... "The devil has seduced them."

Many times had the Apostasy family tried to destroy that most annoying trumpet, but... they had never been able to do aught but, for a season, to in some way deceive the trumpeters, for a short time, into the idea that it was no longer necessary.

I have never depended on my conscience regarding right and wrong. It has been too serious a matter to my soul, and whenever I have lacked wisdom, on any subject, I knew God had it for me, and was ready to impart it, if I was submissive enough to be taught.

There has been a great cry... for liberty of conscience. But let us realize that this tendency generally runs into a liberal conscience, and there is a vast difference between a liberal conscience and liberty of conscience.
