The first step to walking in faith in God is to renounce your unbelief.... When this is done, when we have been afflicted to the extent that we mourn and weep... then we will be inspired to believe the promises of God.... We will then count Him faithful who promised.

"The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God."... Someone has stated that the fool says this in his heart without the full consent of his mind, for if it be difficult to prove by human reasoning that there is a God, it is utterly impossible to prove that there is not.

So God stirs our nests, and we weep and sob and cry—money gone, friends gone, church gone; nobody loves me. Then Jesus Christ stretches out one great wing, and we begin to take hold of Him, and then He moves out and up and away.

Elijah would not... look at surroundings and circumstances. To look would have meant discouragement; to look would have defeated God's purpose... to look would have meant the loss of all. So he covered up his "lookers," and just would not look.

Terry noticed a brush pile next to the lawn. There were probably snakes living in it, Terry thought.... "Miss Richardson," said Terry, "there are snakes in that pile of brush!" "Terry," Miss Richardson replied, "the only snake around here is the one in your ear!"
