Jesus was quick to give the credit to God. Although He was God Himself... He quickly and reflexively gave the credit for virtue to His heavenly Father. It is this set of heart and mind that avoids the pride of life and lives in humble reliance upon God.

So then I turned from the One who loved me the most and severed the last tie of my salvation. I promise you that it was not the most happy time in my life. It was the darkest. And the most hurtful. God left me alone pretty much.

The Bible requires a pure heart—a failure on your part to get the Bible promise fulfilled in you will result in you missing heaven, for "blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God," and "without [holiness] no man shall see the Lord."

"Giving all diligence." ...at its heart it really means, "with all speed." Do it right now! Promptly! Get it taken care of!... That is to say, I need to seek the Lord's help to live a virtuous life right now, when the test of my virtue is on me.

The face of Jesus Christ must have been very beautiful... with the true beauty produced by a pure and spotless life. Sin disfigures the countenance, and there was no sin in Him.... What goes on in the depths of our being, comes up to the surface.

"Very precious" and "very costly" still falls short of the measure of this treasure. Oh, if we could but see how much was contained in the simple words Christ spoke to His disciples, to us: "This is my body, which is broken for you"; "my blood... which is poured out for you."

"There he comes again," said Annie. "He walks this way and seems to be looking for something. He walks slow, and is without his hat. He puts his hand to his head, as if he did not know what to do. Oh, sister, he has gone in again; what shall we do?"

Precious... tossed on her crown of love, but didn't have time to adjust her veil of quietness.... Princess Kind-to-All had planned a party and Precious didn't want to be late. She bounded down the steps... and did not notice her ring fall to the floor.

"So then there remains a rest to the people of God. For he who has entered into his rest, he also has ceased from his own works, as God did from His. Therefore let us labor to enter into that rest, lest anyone fall after the same example of unbelief."
