Have You Sought?

Have you been to the sad and the lonely,
Whose burdens are heavy to bear?
Have you carried the name of Jesus,
And tenderly breathed it in prayer?
Have you told of the great salvation
He died on the cross to secure?
Have you asked them to trust in the Savior,
Whose love shall forever endure?

He Answered Never a Word

The priests and the elders with fiendish spite,
Accused Him of many things;
But His face was radiant with heavenly light,
He could hear the sound of wings;
And Pilate marveled to see Him there,
As each wicked charge he heard,
His mute lips moved as in silent prayer,
But He answered never a word.

He Brought Me Out

I’ll tell of the pit, with its gloom and despair,
I’ll praise the dear Father, who answered my prayer;
I’ll sing my new song, the glad story of love,
Then join in the chorus with the saints above.

He Knows and He Hears

He knows and He cares
When you’re troubled and tried,
Though it seems that your prayers
Fall so empty and void.

He Knows, Yes, He Knows

He knows, yes, He knows when we’re tempted and tried;
Our prayers He will answer if close by His side.
He knows, yes, He knows when our spirit is sad—
If we trust in Him fully, our hearts He’ll make glad.

He Will Not Fail Me Now

When Satan tried to draw me back,
Christ did not fail me then,
But kept me on the upward track,
And did not fail me then.
While Satan tried his worst to do,
My Lord was by my side, I knew;
He answered prayer and took me through—
He will not fail me now.

Heavenly Father, We Beseech Thee

Refrain:

Bless the words we here have spoken,
Offered prayer and cheerful strain;
If Thy will, O Lord, we pray Thee,
Grant we all may meet again.

Hid Away with Jesus (Starcher)

Oh, brother dear, to keep good cheer,
Be hid away with Jesus;
For then you’ll find your Savior near,
Keep hid away with Jesus;
We’re basking now in heaven’s light,
By faith and prayer our way shines bright,
We get so near that heav’n’s in sight,
When hid away with Jesus.

Higher Ground

My heart has no desire to stay
Where doubts arise and fears dismay;
Though some may dwell where those abound,
My prayer, my aim, is higher ground.

Himself

Once ’twas busy planning,
Now ’tis trustful prayer;
Once ’twas anxious caring,
Now He has the care;
Once ’twas what I wanted,
Now what Jesus says;
Once ’twas constant asking,
Now ’tis ceaseless praise.
