Arise, My Soul, Arise

Five bleeding wounds He bears, received on Calvary;
They pour effectual prayers; they strongly plead for me:
“Forgive him, oh, forgive,” they cry,
“Forgive him, oh, forgive,” they cry,
“Nor let that ransomed sinner die!”

At First I Prayed for Light

And light and strength and faith
Are op’ning everywhere!
God waited patiently until
I prayed the larger prayer.

Be All at Rest, My Soul

“Be all at rest!” for rest alone becometh
The soul that casts on Him its every care;
“Be all at rest!” So shall thy life proclaim Him
A God who worketh and who heareth prayer.

Beautiful

Beautiful thought to me,
We shall forever be
Thine in eternity,
When from this world we’re free;
Free from its toil and care,
Heavenly joys to share,
Let me cross over there,
This is my prayer.

Blest Be the Tie That Binds

Before our Father’s throne,
We pour our ardent prayers;
Our fears, our hopes, our aims are one,
Our comforts, and our cares.

Bow Down Thine Ear

Thou’rt good, and ready to forgive me.
Those that call upon Thee find
That plenteous are Thy tender mercies;
Thou art holy, just, and kind.
O Lord, give ear unto my pleadings,
And attend unto my prayer!
In day of trouble, I will call Thee;
Thou wilt give me answer there.

Brethren, We Have Met to Worship

Is there here a trembling jailer, seeking grace, and filled with fears?
Is there here a weeping Mary, pouring forth a flood of tears?
Brethren, join your cries to help them; sisters, let your prayers abound;
Pray, oh, pray that holy manna may be scattered all around.

Brightest and Best

Vainly we offer each ample oblation,
Vainly with gifts would His favor secure;
Richer by far is the heart’s adoration,
Dearer to God are the prayers of the poor.

Cast Thy Bread upon the Water

Cast thy bread upon the water,
Let it spread from pole to pole;
And the prayers of patient toilers
Soon will yield some precious soul.

Close to Thee

Not for ease or worldly pleasure,
Nor for fame my prayer shall be;
Gladly will I toil and suffer,
Only let me walk with Thee.
