Dear Reader

We present this little volume to you in the name of our King, Jesus Christ, who has made it possible. It is through His mercy that we can be at peace with our Heavenly Father. It is through His grace—that ever present help we so desperately need—that we daily live in the light of heaven. Praise be to Him for His faithful loving care for us!

In this song and story collection we have selected the stories from old books that hold up the values of the Bible. In pairing them with the songs (reprinted from the first 12 issues of Treasures of the Kingdom) we have tried to match the themes. Topics such as salvation, forgiving those that wrong us, and conquering in our trials are indeed hard to find. We are glad that the truth in them is not out-dated for practical application today. In the darkness of this generation may you be stirred to turn again to the “old paths” of righteousness as you read these pages.

There are “treasures of the kingdom” yet to claim. The heavenly way is just as real and true as it ever was, but only the earnest seekers will find it. The Savior’s words are, “Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.”* (Mark 10:15) Then, for us all, these stories of childlike trust and simplicity in life are an important reminder of a living Heavenly Father who still cares for His own. The question is, will you be His child?
