Something You Can Do

Do you like the squeaky-clean feel of a bath or shower? You can make a bath scrubber that is soft and gentle, but good at cleaning, too. Ask Mommy for the supplies you need, and then you can make her one, too!

A Gentle Elephant Scrubber

Get:

  • plastic netting 12” x 12” (found near veil supplies in fabric stores)
  • 2 pieces of felt
  • paper, scissors, pins
  • sewing machine or needle and thread
  1. Trace around Mommy’s right hand on the paper, with fingers together. Add the elephant’s trunk and ears, like this:
  2. Cut your pattern out and pin to the felt. Cut 2 elephant heads out of felt, being careful when cutting the inside of the trunk.
  3. Fold the netting over the felt to cover both sides. Pin through to hold all the layers together.
  4. Stitch carefully around the edges, leaving the back of the ear open for your hand. Remember to sew around the inside of the trunk, too.
  5. Carefully trim the netting all around the elephant. Slip your hand inside to see how it fits. You can hand-stick button eyes or a line for the ear, if you don’t stitch the layers together.
  6. To use your Gentle Elephant Scrubber, slip it on your hand and soak it in water. Now rub it on a soap bar and scrub yourself all over!
