Some have suggested that a colony be established that would exclude all ignorant and obnoxious people. That was not the thought of Christ in founding His church.... He was a friend to the worst, that He might make them fit to be among the best.

Travail is one of the sharpest pains known in the physical realm.... [God] applies it to the church, and says that such a suffering, burden, and agonizing cry must come on His people, before sons and daughters are born unto Him.

Will you be to Christ the partner of His throne or a vomit-inducing emetic? A Militant or a Chocolate Christian? Will you fear or will you fight? Shall your brethren go to war and shall you sit here? When He comes, shall He find faith on the earth?

I wish it were in my power to arouse the millions who are sleeping under the delusion that they were really baptized when they were babes and are therefore Christians. Unless such become awakened... they will all be lost forever.

But now these very same writers and preachers... have repudiated their own teaching and are wearing many of the things they formerly taught against. So, according to their own statements... "The devil has seduced them."

Elijah would not... look at surroundings and circumstances. To look would have meant discouragement; to look would have defeated God's purpose... to look would have meant the loss of all. So he covered up his "lookers," and just would not look.

There is a wide difference between being anxious about coming troubles and being prepared beforehand for troubles that may come.... Those only can truly live in quiet peace... who have already made preparation for anything that may come to them.

Men get different conceptions of what constitutes deep spirituality. And as they see things differently, their lives correspond more or less with their theories. Hence the need of a proper, Scriptural standard.

A miner came to the altar seeking Christ.... After more than an hour of seeking, the minister dismissed the congregation, while he himself remained with the seeker. After a long time he suggested that they go home.... But the penitent man would not be put off.
