Mrs. Alden, born in 1841, was a very prolific writer. Of her many books, Tip Lewis was one of the first she wrote—and one of her best. Though caught up in the snare of sectarianism, and not knowing the path of perfect holiness, her writings show the heart of one we believe was truly saved. This book is an example of her burden for the lost and lowest in society. We can enter into the life of Edward Lewis and share in the trials and temptations, and rejoice in his victories as he follows the light shed by his Lamp.
