Christ so plainly taught His disciples: Those who have wronged you forgive and bless, Showing love, forbearance, and mercy, Free from all anger and bitterness.
Refrain: Help us, Lord, to forgive each other, With a heard that’s tender and kind, Seeking only to help our brother, Showing the beauty of Christ’s own mind.
What was Christ our Master’s example, When by His foes He was crucified? Thus He prayed: “O Father, forgive them”; Lovingly then for their sins He died.
God our sins has freely forgiven; How then forgiveness can we withhold, Knowing that our debt to our Father Far surpassed all that to us is owed?
Let us be concerned for our brother, Laying aside our own hurt and pain; Let us win his soul for the Master, Thus Heaven’s glory we all may gain.
