He was lost here according to this Scripture. And He was lost by those who loved Him. And lost in Jerusalem and in the Temple!.... And yet why be astonished when the same thing is happening today. Christ is still lost by His friends, and in Jerusalem, and in the Temple.

That is the way to look at the Scriptures and understand the thoughts of God—to see in them the face of Love, shining through and through. Not ideas, nor doctrines, but Jesus Himself as the Life and Source and sustaining Presence of all our life.

Some have suggested that a colony be established that would exclude all ignorant and obnoxious people. That was not the thought of Christ in founding His church.... He was a friend to the worst, that He might make them fit to be among the best.

Perhaps there are some who... are not yet truly satisfied with what they have. If you throw open your heart and give up everything but just believing and allowing Him to do what He wants.... Jesus will reveal Himself.

I sometimes think I might have been in darkness and despair until now had it not been for the goodness of God in sending a snowstorm, one Sunday morning, while I was going to a certain place of worship. When I could go no further, I turned down a side street....

Are we looking upon our spiritual adversaries and obstacles as things that have come, not to crush us, but to be cast down for the honor and glory of our Captain's cause? Thus shall we be "more than conquerors through him that loved us."

Very few Christians reach such an intimacy with our dear Lord as to receive and appreciate His individual feelings. Jesus is an infinite lover, and nothing will satisfy Him but a pure, sacred, passionate, and personal love.

Each of the characters God used in recording the events around Jesus' birth have their precious story.... God's dealings with each of these Bible figures offers a wealth of insights that He will apply to our own lives if we take the time to study and ponder.

We needed someone like this—oh, how we needed and do need Him! He has exactly what we need. He is not too high and beyond our reach, and He is not too low. We needed someone holy who could make us holy and keep us holy.

"Very precious" and "very costly" still falls short of the measure of this treasure. Oh, if we could but see how much was contained in the simple words Christ spoke to His disciples, to us: "This is my body, which is broken for you"; "my blood... which is poured out for you."
